This was one of my first projects at FYi, the brief was as follows:
-pick any set of FYi patterns and fabric
-build a jacket from scratch (cut/sew/tape)
-you only get to ask three questions (use them wisely)
The reason behind this project was as follows:
“It is essential to our process to work directly with the specific tools, materials and processes involved [to learn how to build] that which we intend to create.”
“By mastering the crafts of the trade, we are able to alter construction constraints; thereby, changing the rules of design itself.”
- Tom Routh | FYi
The 2010 [ak] Guide Jacket was purpose built for guides and working professionals - not available at retail (except in Japan)
